some information about the designer:

pierre guariche (paris, 1926 - bandol, 1995) was born into a family of goldsmiths in paris. He studied there at the national school of decorative arts in paris under the direction of rené gabriel, from which he graduated in 1949. At the same time, he also worked in the studio of marcel gascoin, one of his former teachers. He joined the union des artistes modernes (uam), a collective dedicated to promoting progressive design and its aesthetic principles, founded by robert mallet-stevens in 1929. Thanks to the uam, guariche was able to experiment with materials and shapes and exhibited his works at the salon des arts ménagers and the salon des artistes décorateurs. His work was quickly noticed and put into production by galerie mai, manufacturer of pierre disderot's lighting fixtures. In the same year, the designer also started working for steiner. This collaboration will lead to the creation of the famous tulip chairs in 1953, vampire and amsterdam/tonneau. In 1954, pierre guariche founded the plastic research workshops (arp) with two designer friends, michel mortier and joseph-andré motte. The three met during their internship at gascoin. Together they will create a wide selection of modern and affordable furniture for huchers minvielle and other manufacturers. In 1957, guariche became artistic director of the belgian company meurop. Here, his work embraces biomorphic forms, as evidenced by his mars, jupiter and luna armchairs. At the end of the 1950s, pierre guariche concentrated more and more on private and public commissions, such as the winter resorts of la plagne and courchevel in france. Guariche received the rené gabriel prize in 1965. He died in 1995. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
