Turtles is an original print realized by George Edwards in the 18th century. Color lithograph. Original Title: Die kleine Moraft Tchildgröte, Tab. LXXVII. Good conditions, except for minor stains with scotches stuck on top, a little torn on the left side. George Edwards was an English draughtsman who spent his life as observer of birds; he is considered one of the most prominent ornithologists of his era, and the father of British ornithology. He wrote A Natural History of Uncommon Birds (1743-1751) and Gleaning of Natural History (1758-1764), heralded as the most important of all bird books, both from an artistic and an ornithological perspective. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
