Lithograph on wove paper, realized in 1828. Signed in the plate. Light foxing throughout, slightly heavier on the margins; faint handling creases; image impression clean and well-preserved. This finely detailed lithograph is an early work by Auguste Raffet, and depicts a captain of the Garde Royale standing in full parade uniform with a plumed bicorne, drawn sword in hand, as lines of soldiers form ranks behind him. Created early in Raffet’s career (1828), this sheet reflects his classical precision and compositional discipline before he shifted toward more dynamic Romantic battle scenes. The crisp rendering of uniform details and poised stance typify Raffet’s deep interest in military pageantry and the psychology of command. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
