Lithograph realized by Karl Bodmer (1809-1893) in the mid-19th Century. Not signed. Published as part of the “École de Dessin” series (noted as the 10th year, 110th book, plate 655 at the top of the sheet), which was a pedagogical series meant to train art students in observational drawing and lithographic techniques. Very good condition. Karl Bodmer was a Swiss-French artist renowned for his highly detailed and atmospheric works. Bodmer is best known for his travel illustrations and ethnographic works, especially of the American West, but he also produced finely detailed studies of animals and nature like this one. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
