Lithograph realized by Noel Betrand after a drawing by Fleury The portrait shows a neoclassical profile of Cornelia Africana, mother of the famous Gracchi brothers of ancient Rome, often celebrated as a model of Roman matronly virtue. The style, with its clean lines, idealized features, and draped garment, reflects the 19th century French academic interest in classical antiquity. This type of work was likely part of a series of didactic or decorative prints representing exemplary women from history and mythology, common in mid 19th century France. Not signed. Very good condition. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
