Lithograph on wove paper, realized between 1830s and 1840s. Signed in the plate. Mild foxing and age-toning, especially around sheet edges; image area clean and well-inked, with good contrast and detail; lower left corner with an old mounting mark. This dramatic lithograph by Auguste Raffet depicts the 13 Vendémiaire insurrection of 1795, when Napoléon Bonaparte, then a young general, crushed a royalist uprising in Paris near the Church of Saint-Roch. Raffet captures the intensity of the battle with soldiers manning a cannon in the foreground while smoke swirls around cavalry and infantry figures in the background. His dynamic composition and finely controlled lithographic technique lend a sense of immediacy and movement, making this one of his most recognized depictions from the French Revolutionperiod. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
