This handmade Afghan rug features a vibrant Khorjin (saddlebag) tribal design, inspired by the traditional woven bags used by Persian Qashqai and Lori nomads. The rug combines iconic saddlebags motifs, geometric medallions, and small tribal symbols with rich horizontal Gabbeh-style stripes, creating a dynamic blend of Persian and Caucasian village influences.
Woven with natural dye wool, the palette ranges from earthy brick reds and olive greens to turquoise, saffron, deep indigo, and warm gold tones. These multicolor stripes echo the weaving traditions of Luri Gabbeh and Qashqai pastoral textiles, while the lower panel of diamond-shaped motifs reflects patterns found in Northwest Persian and Caucasian tribal carpets.
Hand-knotted by Afghan artisans, this rug showcases excellent texture, crisp details, and an energetic folk-art character. It’s an ideal statement piece for living rooms, bohemian interiors, eclectic spaces, or anywhere needing a burst of authentic handcrafted color and tribal artistry.
