Large mid-century Cocoon ceiling light with a distinctive shade pattern by the German manufacturer Goldkant, designed by Friedel Wauer in the 1960s.
The light consists of a flat cylinder that is mounted directly to the ceiling. A metal disc with a screw connects the light body to the base plate. The distinctive feature is the graphic pattern of squares and circles around the edge of the shade. The light is no longer labeled, though traces of a sticker remain. Goldkant was known at the time for its various Cocoon lighting designs.
The light is in very good condition with signs of use and patina. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
