Good condition for its age and use
Dimensions: 30 x 13 x 13 cm
Spectacular pair of porcelain apothecary jars, with cartouches for “Amber” and “Opium.” These jars were traditionally used by apothecaries to store medicinal liquids. However, in addition to their functional use, they were decorated with paintings that, as in this case, simulated frames for the names of the substances they contained, with intertwined plant motifs and decorative geometric patterns, purely ornamental, as well as gold bands. The very concept of their form goes beyond the merely functional. Currently, they are also used as decorative items or as jars for storing kitchenware.
