Madame de Pompadour is an artwork realized by Adolphe Lalauze in 1883 and published on "L'Art" during the same year. Etching on paper. Titled on the lower margin. Printed by A. Salmon. Original artwork after Charles Nicolas Cochin. Good conditions. Fresh and delicate impression representing Madame de Pompadour and a male figure performing "Acis and Galatea" in front of Louis XV and the rest of the court of Versailles. The artwork was realized by Adolphe Lalauze (1838 - 1906) after Nicolas Cochin the Younger, a prolific French etcher and artist who realized illustrations for many books. The scene is set in the Ambassadors' Staircase at the Palace of Versailles, a grand staircase that was destroyed in 1752 This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
