Lithograph on wove paper. Signed and dated on plate. This evocative lithograph by Auguste Raffet, one of the most accomplished French lithographers of the 19th century, depicts the celebrated Khan’s Palace and its adjoining mosque in Bakhchisarai, Crimea. The architecture, with its elegant minarets, arched porticoes, and domed roofs, is rendered with remarkable precision, while figures in traditional dress populate the courtyard, grounding the scene in lived reality. Raffet’s careful balance of architectural detail and atmospheric perspective conveys both the monumentality of the structure and the charm of its daily life. His lithographs from Crimea are among the finest visual records of the region in the mid-19th century, reflecting European fascination with Orientalist subjects and documenting important historic landmarks. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
