Beautiful piece with its antique-style decoration.
Large jug with Hellenic decoration, oinochoe type.
Attributed to Robert and Violette Meynard, circa 1960.
They settled in Vallauris in 1951.
The decoration of their pottery is often inspired by antiquity.
Here, the decoration includes various incisions and a raised frieze.
The frieze of figures is on display at the Louvre Museum.
The color is a rather dark green.
The pottery is a very good size, measuring 36 cm in height, and is made entirely of stoneware.
It has a well-proportioned body with a vertical handle and a beautiful mouth.
A small chip (see photo), but otherwise in very good condition for its age.
The piece is very decorative and elegant. I can easily picture it in a minimalist and very chic setting.
Perfect for fans of slow decor.
