An important wall unit made in Cantù (Italy, ca. 1955), consisting of a bench with drawer fronts and three wall units with walnut doors with a geometric design. The right compartment houses a bar with a mirrored interior, glass shelves, and a functioning lighting system (restored). The design, due to its proportions, tapered legs, and refined veneers, is attributed to the circle of Paolo Buffa / Vittorio Dassi for the La Permanente Mobili Cantù school. The piece has been recently restored: the finish has been checked, the mechanisms have been overhauled, and the lighting system in the bar has been brought up to standard. A piece of high-quality workmanship and a strong visual impact, it is ideal as a living room/bar unit for mid-century and contemporary interiors. La Permanente Mobili Cantù is a historic consortium of woodworking and furniture craftsmen and companies founded in Cantù at the end of the 19th century (roots in 1893) to promote and market quality local craftsmanship. In the 1950s it became a point of reference for mid-century Italian design, collaborating with designers and architects such as Paolo Buffa, Vittorio Dassi, Ico Parisi and others, and supporting cultural initiatives such as the Selettiva del Mobile (from 1955), which helped to project “Cantù furniture” onto the international scene. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
