This beautiful studio ceramic art plate is inspired by the traditional ceramic style of the Hutsul culture and was handcrafted in Romania in 1960. It is signed on the underside with 'Myriam - 1960'.
The design of this plate or bowl with the peacock motif and decor refers to the folk art of the region, influenced by the Hutsul culture. Hand-pained ceramic rural household objects of the Hutsul culture - one of the varieties of Ukrainian ceramics - and Kosiv painted ceramics, are known for their unique tricolor palette and are characterized by a unique rustic style which also has a ritual significance.
The Romania and Ukraine region is rich in clay, so pottery has been developed here since ancient times. The formation of Hutsul pottery took place from the 15th century. This piece has an attribution mark,
