The bowl's distinctive, rugged appearance, which resembles an iceberg or frozen landscape, was directly inspired by the natural wilderness of Lapland, Finland, where Wirkkala spent a significant amount of time. The bowl is created using a complex cut and blown-molded technique with clear glass.
