The Swedish designer Axel Larsson (1898–1975) studied art and design in Stockholm and subsequently worked as a draftsman in the … Read more The Swedish designer Axel Larsson (1898–1975) studied art and design in Stockholm and subsequently worked as a draftsman in the studio of furniture designer Carl Malmsten (1916–1920). For over 30 years, Larsson worked at the Swedish furniture factory SMF Bodafors. from 1956 onward, he ran his own design studio. Axel Larsson's style was strongly influenced by functionalism. His furniture appears pragmatic, clear, and elegant. He designed the rare wooden armchair "Model 244" in 1948. Produced by Bodafors. Brand stamp on the underside. The armchair is so well-designed that it is exceptionally comfortable even without upholstery. The combination of solid beechwood and elegant teak molded plywood is particularly interesting. Good original condition. Various previous owners have carried out several repairs on the armchair. Two veneer chips on the seat have been glued. Two further glued areas below the armrest and under the seat have darkened. There are also some minor discolorations. Nevertheless, the armchair is in excellent condition considering its age. We have tried to show the most noticeable signs of wear in the photos. Seat height 32cm. This piece has an attribution mark,
