A beautiful and unusual antique Flow Blue cake or luncheon plate, distinguished by its unique octagon (8-sided) shape and classic fruit transferware design. The "Flow Blue" effect, a hallmark of late 19th/early 20th-century pottery, features a beautifully blurred, rich cobalt blue pigment.
This plate is marked "Imperial China" Semi-Vitreous Porcelain, a common mark used on American or European export pottery to denote a line of strong, decorative semi-porcelain ware that mimics the appearance of fine china. Dates to Late Victorian / Early 20th Century (c. 1890s - 1920s). In good antique condition with some wear as pictured. Measures 10.5 inches across.
