A green jade malachite glass, with a base matte finish and some of the higher points a glossy finish. The body of the vase pressed into the mold with compressed air (finishing was carried out at Schlevogt workshops);
This mold-cast Ingrid vase was designed by Artur Pleva for the firm of Curt Schlevogt from the 1930s. It features four semi-nude female figures in what I think of as romanesque robes but I've heard others say neoclassical dress.

Approximate Measurements: 9 1/2 inches (24 cm) Height x 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) at widest point, opening is 3 1/4"

History of the company and how it was made: Curt Schlevogt established his own glass company in 1928 . Schlevogt initially traded glass jewelry, beads and buttons, but later became (together with Heinrich Hoffmann's firm) the main producer of art crystal : delicate crystal figures, small bottles and vases that were created using molds. Henry Günther Schlevogt (Curt's son and Hoffman´s son-in-law), took over his father's firm in 1934 and soon introduced the first collection of pressed glass. The collection was called "Ingrid", named after his then 4 year old daughter. See less
