Expertly made using embroidery and stitched felt fabric, this piece captures a tender and nostalgic moment with exquisite detail and craftsmanship.

The soldier, dressed in his traditional red coat adorned with gold detailing and epaulettes, white trousers, and tall grey boots, has removed his tall bearskin hat and kneels before the lady with an outstretched hand, holding hers in a gesture of devotion. His fair blond hair and earnest expression add warmth and humanity to the scene.

The lady, coy and demure, wears a beautifully detailed period dress featuring floral embroidery and Gigot sleeves, typical of 1830s fashion. Her ensemble is completed by a tall hat and long black gloves, adding to her elegance and refinement. Their attire evokes the charm of the early Victorian period, though the work itself dates to the 1930s.

Presented under glass in its original Art Deco frame, the piece retains its framers’ label on the reverse, reading “Normill Trademark – Made in England.” The frame shows light signs of age and wear consistent with its history, which only enhance its vintage charm and character.
