Charming landscape walk with a family theme - a grandmother / caregiver in a perfect English red coat walking with a properly suited child - ideal for the period.

Beautiful trees and foliage, a stone walk, very good scale and distance, and warm, bright tones.

27.25 wide, 3.75" deep, 22" tall.

Not only is the painting very nicely crafted, the artisan frame with a gilt finish is intricate, heavy and impressive. There are at least four layers of carving and detail on the molding alone.

Together, they make a formidable pair!

J. Galloway, 1896 signed in lower right of scene on canvas and in the center of the frame on the lower side, as great paintings of the period often were.
