This Andy Warhol rare vintage 1986 limited edition large fine art lithograph print " Princess Caroline of Monaco " 1983, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph print is published by The Carnegie Museum of Art ( CMOA ) in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the city of Warhol's birthplace. Printed in a series of limited edition color lithograph prints by the museum in 1986. The print is signed in the plate, hand numbered 1100/2400 from the edition of 2400, CMOA stamp on the reverse back side. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1983 titled " Princess Caroline of Monaco ".
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
Warhol's portrait of Princess Caroline the daughter of Prince Rainier III of Monaco, and Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, is one of the artist's iconic portrait art works. The artwork is based on a series of unique polaroid photos by Warhol created for the cover of French Vogue in 1983, when Caroline was 26 years old. The artwork is an enigmatic identity of its subject and the bold directness of its allure as a mirror of its time.
Princess Caroline of Monaco ( B. 1957 ) was hereditary princess and heir presumptive to the Monegasque throne from her birth until her brother Albert was born. Since her youth, she has been considered an international fashion icon and one of the best dressed women in the world.
Her personal interests include riding, swimming and skiing. Caroline has been romantically linked to many famous men throughout her life. She is a philanthropist and patron of The International School of Paris, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, The Monte Carlo Garden Club, The Spring Arts Festival, and The Peter Le Marchant Trust Organization for Disabled People. In 2011, an exhibition honoring Princess Caroline was opened at The National Museum of Monaco.
She epitomized the celebrity that infatuated Warhol, her beauty, and their friendship, made Caroline a perfect subject for the artist.
The rare out of print large lithograph print measures 23 1/8" W X 23 5/8" H. It is printed on high quality heavyweight premium paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.
It is in excellent " like new " vey clean condition with very light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
