✨ Stunning Oversized 1950s Central Anatolia Village Kilim
This rare mid-century Eskişehir kilim stands out with its exceptionally large scale, bold tribal geometry, and richly saturated vegetable-dyed colors. Woven in the 1950s on a traditional village family loom, it reflects the authentic weaving language of Central Anatolia through its serrated motifs, rhythmic horizontal banding, and powerful contrasts of red, black, gray, cream, and warm ochre accents.
It is an extra-large village-made kilim that shows remarkably little use for its age, making it a highly desirable collector’s piece for trade buyers and interior professionals working with expansive spaces. Fully wool-on-wool and tightly woven, it delivers both visual presence and cultural depth.

Color Palette & Design Insight
The palette features raspberry red, charcoal black, soft gray, muted cream, warm beige, and bright orange highlights. These tones are characteristic of mid-century Central Anatolian vegetable-dyed wool.
The strong horizontal striping introduces an architectural rhythm, while the serrated forms add dynamic movement, making the kilim ideal for anchoring large-scale interiors, open floor plans, and settings that benefit from a commanding textile centerpiece.
Motifs & Symbolism
• Serrated Tribal Forms: Represent ideas of protection, continuity, and directional movement.
• Horizontal Bands: Symbolize the passage of time, community order, and the layered structure of village life.
• Color Contrasts: Reflect natural-dye variations rooted in regional plants and traditional dye processes.
Usage & Interior-Styling Suggestions
This substantial kilim is perfect for open-plan living rooms, large lounges, loft-style spaces, gallery walls, designer studios, and boutique hospitality environments.
Its elongated horizontal flow helps visually expand wide rooms, while the bold motif structure provides a grounding element in modern, rustic, farmhouse, boho, or mid-century inspired interiors.
Despite its age, the rug remains in very good vintage condition with only natural irregularities and slight undulation typical of handmade flatweaves.
Please note: As seen in the photos, the rug doesn’t lie completely flat and shows slight natural waviness typical of handwoven pieces.
