In the case of this pair of gilt bronze three-light candelabras, the motifs have accurately captured the flamboyant nature of Louis XV.

Bulbous sconces embellished with gadroon and round baubles emerge from flat bobeches at the top of each candelabra. The center sconce rises much higher and has a slightly thicker bobeche with a scalloped bottom edge. Foliate detailing graces the outer arms, with tendrils of the rinceaux merging with the center column that supports the taller sconce. The leaves also extend down towards a pair of lion mascarons that are joined by swags on the side of the shaft. Additional motifs include large, parted leaves, dolphins, and additional gadroon, all of which can be seen on the highly detailed base. Our gilt bronze candelabras would make wonderful decorative accessories for a table or mantel. They can also be used as functional candle holders. The beautiful finish, which is equal to the opulence of the motifs, allow the candelabras to be used in more formal areas, such as a dining room, salon, or grand foyer. See less
