Rare Vintage 40-Inch Papier Maché Santa Claus Face With Raffia Beard, Mustache & Hair
The face and head are made from papier maché. Unlike other similar Santa faces, which have white painted mustaches; this Santa has raffia hair, beard, and mustache. This is a more natural look than those with the stark white painted mustaches juxtaposed with the darker fibre look of the beard.
Raffia is a natural fibre that is derived from the leaves of the raffia palm tree, which is native to tropical regions in Madagascar and parts of Africa and Asia. The leaves of the raffia palm tree are long and thin, and they are harvested and processed to create the fibre that is used in raffia products and for crafts.
This item is in very good vintage condition with only normal signs of age and use. It is approximately 40 inches tall from the top of his head to the tip of his beard. Please examine the photos for detail. Photos are part of the description.
