Early 19th century creamware Liverpool jug of the American ship Caroline, circa 1800, with polychromed decorated image of the sea and the American flag
On the reverse, the jug is decorated with “The Shipwright Arms”, and under the spout the name of James Leech within a floral wreath, above a Federal shield and spread winged eagle with 13 stars.
These jugs were made for the American market, showing support of the War for Independence.
