Offered is a soon to be very stylish vintage swivel office chair by Doermer Faultless. Please read description carefully. We thought we encountered a Steelcase office chair with wood arms to match a sofa we have treasured for 30 yrs. Alas, it is similar in style, and in construction, but it is a Canadian designer, Frank Doermer, and his patented swivel mechanism chair. We've tested the chair and its proprietary leaning feature, and it works perfectly. It's been given a good scrub down, but requires re-upholstery to be beautiful, and could stand with a new chrome plating to get it spiffy and enviable. The details of Doermer's patent are below - we found it fascinating. We decided that rather than reupholstering this chair with our own choice, it belongs with someone who wants to customize their own details - wouldn't this be fabulous in a grainy pebbled leather and nickel plating on the heavy steel base? You decide - make it your own style. We've shown pictures of the hardware, all intact, and the extra good news is that the chair can easily be dismantled for easy shipping and upholstery grand finale. Features rubber wheels and walnut wood plank armrests.
Measures 31.5" tall (adjustable), 23" deep, 21.5" wide, seat height is 18" (adjustable)
Frank Doerner did not invent the first swivel chair, but he is credited with developing key components, such as an improved tensioning bolt and a thrust bearing, for the swivel and tilt mechanisms found in chairs manufactured by his companies. His patents were crucial to the "Faultless" swivel chair's improved stability and functionality. The history of the swivel chair dates back much earlier, with Thomas Jefferson commissioning an early version in 1775. Frank Doerner is associated with developing improvements for modern swivel and tilt chairs. His work was foundational to the "Faultless" chair's patented swivel and tilt function, and his companies later became Faultless-Doerner Manufacturing Inc

It works perfectly and the hardware and structure are all intact, it swivels easily and reclines comfortably as promised by the patented design, nut it needs to be reupholstered as the current vinyl is icky, and we suggest re-plating the metal to make it fabulous, but the metal is currently OK except for some wear and tear, see detailed pictures. Any wear is commensurate with use. Please note, we can do local delivery in South Florida at no charge, or if the chair needs shipping we will dismantle it and ship in 3 boxes to save on shipping costs. . less
