Rya Wall hanging or Rug most likely produced in the 1960s (possibly early 1970s). The ombre, sunburst design (here in warmest orange, yellow, brown, and white) was a popular mid-century modern, “space age” aesthetic.
Rya or Rya-style rugs, or wall hangings, are known for long, loose, shaggy piles, and are carefully woven; the circle shape is encapsulated in a border that’s hand-sewn with a cotton fabric! Such a delicate and deft hand went into making them. Clean simple and always geometric Scandinavian style!
