One plate is in a green border with gold gild design. It has portrait of a couple dressed in 1820's attire. He appears to be an aristocratic gentleman wanting to purchase the fruits of a local girl, displaying her baskets of fruits, while sitting apron a stone wall. In earlier times this would be considered a more risqué painting scene with it's suggestive under-tones. The other portrait plate is with a red border and gold gild. This scene is more mythological with three maidens pulling a gilded cart with Cupit holding his Bow riding in it. They seem to be honoring him so they will find love. Each plate measures approximately 10-1/2 inches in diameter and retains the Austrian Beehive mark. They may also be purchased separately. See less

There is not much I can say about them except they are of fine quality and would be a fine addition to any collection. They would also be nice put into a deep gilded frame. As I said before the may be purchased as a pair or individually. The are priced by the pair as $650.00 or $325.00 each. less
