A commanding pair of antique Dutch Heraldic brass candelabra, perfect for adding a touch of bold, heraldic elegance to your home. Each candelabrum features a regal lion rampant holding a scrolled two-light branch in its mouth and a crown-topped shield in its paws.
Each piece holds two taper candles. The central figure is a detailed lion standing on an octagonal base, clutching a shield (possibly a coat of arms or family crest design) and supporting the scrolled, rococo-style arms. Constructed of solid brass with a beautiful, rich antique patina and verdigris on the base, reflecting their age and history. Bases appear to be bronze or a much patinated brass.
Unmarked but indicative of Dutch origin. The lion rampant holding a shield is a common motif in Dutch and Flemish brassware, particularly from the 19th to early 20th century. This design often references historical heraldry, sometimes specifically the coat of arms for the city of Amsterdam. The overall look—heavy brass, gothic/regency revival style elements, and the screw-together construction on the base—points to a date in the late 19th century (Victorian era) or early 20th Century.
