Woven entirely by hand in the celebrated Oushak region of Aegean Anatolia, this striking 2020s flatweave kilim marries centuries-old silk weaving techniques with an iconic 20th-century avant-garde aesthetic. Inspired directly by the fluid, continuous lines of Henri Matisse’s paper cut-outs, specifically the 'Blue Nude III', the textile serves as an exceptional piece of modern floor art or a gallery-quality wall hanging.
With its bold contrast and sleek, minimalist profile, this natural-dye organic silk on silk rug perfectly complements refined, contemporary interiors. It introduces a bold yet harmonious presence that elevates Mid-Century Modern, Japandi, and Organic Modern spaces, offering an airy, sculptural focal point tailored for sophisticated living areas, bedrooms, or entrance halls.

◆ Color Palette & Design Insight:
A striking, high-contrast visual experience that balances bold artistic energy with serene negative space.
(Primary colors: Vibrant blue, natural cream)
• The foundation is an undyed, natural cream silk that provides a luminous and organic backdrop.
• A vivid, saturated Matisse blue dominates the foreground, offering an arresting pop of color.
• The absence of a traditional border emphasizes the floating, boundless nature of the contemporary silhouette.
• The subtle luster of the natural silk fibers brings a sophisticated, shifting sheen to the overall composition.
◆ Motifs & Symbolism:
This extraordinary piece steps away from traditional Anatolian geometry to embrace a celebrated modernist motif inspired by mid-century paper cut-outs. The singular, continuous flowing lines capture the essence of the human form in a state of dynamic rest and sculptural abstraction. By translating this renowned avant-garde drawing into a handwoven silk medium, the weavers have transformed a classic artistic study into a tangible, textural experience. The stark interplay between the vivid central figure and the expansive natural background emphasizes the relationship between form and empty space, bringing an elevated, gallery-like sophistication directly into the home.

Copyright Succession H. Matisse / DACS. It features an original artwork created by Matisse in 1952 titled " Nu Bleu III ( Blue Nude III ) ".
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and his fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary art of The 20th Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art.
A straight line can be drawn between the big figure composition of Matisse's fauvist period and the gouache Cut - Out technique which he perfected at the end of his life. Likening what he called " Drawing with Scissors " ( cutting directly into color ) to a sculptor carving into stone. His achievement was to create three dimensional form, entire and rounded, like sculptures. For the last 15 years of his life, though he continued to paint, draw, and sculpt, paper Cut - Outs became his principal medium
