19th Century Still Life Painting After Pieter Claesz (1597-1660) Dutch.
This outstanding 19th century oil painting on copper shows an amazing intuitive understanding of the art of the Dutch master, Pieter Claesz. The lavish still life, with the characteristic objects (a glass of wine, a knife, a peeled lemon), is colorful and decorative. It is painted in the tradition of Dutch naturalism in vivid colors and glowing light. Matching the painting on copper, it is housed in a traditional 19th century Dutch black ripple frame.
