William Alexander (b1935 -1988) started his ceramics career in Europe as a potter in Germany and an Apprentice Master in Switzerland. When he moved back to the United States, he helped establish and grow the ceramics programs at Colorado State University and Montana State University.
This jar depicts two female faces with a castle and countryside. The glaze has a lusterware finish that is primarily evident on the dark area of the design.
The base is signed in the characteristic - William Alexander - 'W' connected to an 'A'.
