This elegant 19th-century French bouillotte lamp features a classic gilt bronze (ormolu) base with finely cast details and three candle-style arms. The lamp retains its traditional red tole (tôle peinte) adjustable shade, decorated with gilt neoclassical motifs and an interior gold wash. The central shaft includes the original shade-adjustment key, allowing the shade to be raised or lowered as intended in authentic bouillotte lamps.
The bronze arms display scrolling acanthus leaf ornamentation, and the base shows a warm, aged patina consistent with its period. Converted to electricity, the lamp has three candle-form sockets with white sleeves and a working inline switch.
