Rare to find a pair.
Beautiful pair of antique French bouillotte lamps, dating from the 19th century. Each lamp features a finely cast gilt-bronze (ormolu) base with classical detailing, including elegant scroll arms, decorative wreath finials, and original dish-form bases with intricate borders. The lamps retain their traditional adjustable tole (metal) bouillotte shades, hand-painted in black with gilt neoclassical motifs including stylized swans and foliate patterns.
Both lamps are fitted with three candle-form electric lights and adjustable shade mechanisms. The finials differ slightly—one with a wreath form and the other with an arrow motif—consistent with many 19th-century handmade pairs. Wiring appears vintage and may benefit from updating.
