The dining set … Read more This is a charming vintage dining table and 4 chairs that is perfect for smaller dining areas. The dining set includes a Hitchcock style drop-leaf maple dining table paired with 4 vintage black painted ladder back rush seat chairs.

The dining table is made of solid maple wood with a top stained warm medium brown and a base with black painted cabriole legs ending in pad feet. There is Hitchcock style decorative foliate stenciling on the drop leaves and gold detailing on the legs. The table seats up to 6 diners when fully extended. The table is unsigned, but is stamped "ROCKPORT" (possibly indicating that the table is made of Rockport maple) and is dated 1966.

Unusually, table's drop leaves run parallel to the long sides of the table, similar in design to antique Irish hunt tables. When the leaves are folded down, the resulting long narrow table can be used as a console table or buffet. This is a great table to have on hand to provide extra seating space or additional serving space for dinner parties and holiday meals.

The 4 chairs feature solid wood frames painted black, shaped ladder backs, woven paper fibre rush seats, and legs united by double box stretchers. The chairs are unsigned, but they were likely American made in the 1960s.

The dining set is in very good vintage condition. The table is stable and structurally sound, with the drop leaves functioning smoothly. The table top has some scratches and wear. There is paint loss on the base and legs. The chairs are rock solid with intact rush seats with some wear on the black painted finish. The dining table measures 29” tall, 60.5” long, 22.5” wide when leaves are down. When the table is fully extended, the width is 40.5 inches. Each dining chair measures 42.5" tall, 17.5" wide, and 14" deep with a seat height of 17.25 inches. See less
