A antique Burmese beautifully woven basket
Woven Rattan with vestiges of the original lacquer.
Typically made as a household item for Europeans living in Burma during the late 19th century.

There is a lovely patina to the basket. Please note the areas of wear to the bottom of the basket. The original lacquer is shown within the interstices of the woven material. Some of the red can be seen on the bottom.
A wonderful example of the complexity of Burmese basket weaving skill.
