Kayser "Model 108" Easy Chairs. The Norwegian designer created these iconic Mid-Century Modern lounge chairs for Vatne Lenestolfabrikk in Norway. Kayser won a 1968 Award for Design Excellence and gained recognition at the 1983 Collection Price Furniture Fair in Oslo. The chair is displayed in the National Museum, Oslo.

These rare and elegant rosewood chairs are highly sought after for their timeless Scandinavian design, featuring organically carved armrests and renowned for their quality craftsmanship. The blend of a graceful shape, premium materials, and notable awards makes the chairs highly collectible in the vintage furniture market. The cushions can be flipped as shown in the pictures.

I acquired the chairs in 1991 when I lived in Minneapolis-St. Paul. I bought several pieces made by Vatne Lenestolfabrikk through the most reputable furniture store in the area, the International Design Center. The manufacturer’s logo was displayed on the back of the chairs and was removed for cosmetic reasons. The picture from 1992 shows the two chairs in our living room in Mendota Heights, MN, together with two identical leather chairs designed by Kayser.
The chairs are in excellent condition, except that one original button has been replaced. See less
