Chinese red lacquer huaniao rhomboid bitong, with a red lacquer exterior and inset, footed base and black lacquer and dark … Read more Chinese red lacquer huaniao rhomboid bitong, with a red lacquer exterior and inset, footed base and black lacquer and dark umber interior. Four, polychrome, bird and flower cartouches decorate the sides, each framed by cloud and thunder meander corners in gold, all finely painted with gold highlights. One panel has an honorific in gold kaishu characters and one panel has a gold, oval, seal mark. A band of gold spirals decorate the rim and foot, and a gold helices decorate the concave band above the foot. A red, four character, Kangxi reign mark is carved to the inset base. Circa late 19th century, no later than early 20th. See less
