This was an iconic decorative motif popular during the Napoleon III era when European furniture makers embraced East-Asian-inspired forms and textures. A long frieze drawer spans the top, resting over a pair of paneled cabinet doors with finely worked faux-bamboo trim. The proper left side retains two original hanging rods, likely for towels or small textiles. The cabinet stands on whimsical root-form feet, adding sculptural character.
