The rectangular top, framed by a painted cartouche, sits over two smaller drawers above three large, graduated drawers, all with original knobs. The case is raised on a shaped apron joined to reserved tapered feet. The chest is richly hand-painted with expansive Chinoiserie landscape such as stylized pavilions, arched bridges, a boat at shore, flowing willow trees, mountains, and figures fishing from a bridge, all rendered in the traditional blue-and -white palette. A pair of birds in flight adds a unique finishing touch.
