This semi-antique Melayer rug represents the distinguished weaving heritage of Iran's Hamadan region, measuring 7'1" x 19'5". Hand-woven using traditional techniques, the piece has been thoughtfully distressed and refinished in the United States to enhance its character. Persian rug production constitutes a fundamental expression of Iranian artistic and cultural identity, with documented origins extending to the Bronze Age. The most archival examples derive from the Safavid dynasty period of the 16th century, establishing a lineage of technical mastery and aesthetic refinement that continues through contemporary examples such as this Melayer composition.
