Although it is unmarked it is in the style of Thonet bent wood furniture from that period. Michael Thonet was designing and building bentwood furniture during that period of time and bakelite was used for table tops in many of them.
As with most pieces of preowned furniture the condition of this piece is somewhat commensurate with use and age. Although the base has had its finish refreshed it does show signs of having been exposed to burrowing insects in its past life before coming back out of storage. The tiny holes remain but the insects do not and the base is still structurally sound! The top likewise has had a thorough cleaning and polishing but still has traces of surface scratches and some edge chips.
