This delightful handmade wooden box is a form of traditional Indian folk art from the Mughal era. A beautiful octagonal box that is also referred to as a marriage, turban, jewelry or dowry box. The hand painted intricate scenes depict courtly life, courtship and marriage ceremonies. The colors are earth tone naturals with gold accents on a black background that were hand painted.
I showcase this box in the last photographs paired beautifully with a low wooden stool that is sold separately in my listings. “Mid 20th Century Wood Folding Stool Made in Former Yugoslavia”.
