The … Read more This beautifully hand-carved Balinese wood statue depicts Dewi Sri, the rice-fertility goddess of Bali, or a celestial apsara dancer. The figure stands gracefully in a classic three-bend pose atop a lotus pedestal framed by intricate openwork scrolls, rosette accents, and a circular halo — all hallmark elements of mid-20th-century Balinese craftsmanship.

Carved from warm jackfruit wood with a smooth natural finish, the figure rests on a separate dark hardwood plinth, gently worn with age and marked underneath with an old inventory number “59.” The carving displays exceptional detailing throughout the face, costume, and ornamental jewelry.

At approximately 14 inches tall, this sculpture has striking presence and makes a beautiful addition to interior décor, meditation or yoga spaces, sacred altars, or curated collections of Southeast Asian art.

Condition:
Overall in good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. A few small leaf-tip losses in the openwork and some light surface rubs consistent with mid-20th-century handling. The plinth shows normal scuffs. Please review all photos — they are part of the description. See less
