These whimsical Penguin bookends were produced by Frankart in the popular Art Deco style nearly 100 years ago. The pieces are cast in spelter/white metal with a combination of brass and bronze finishes, and not signed on the base ‘FRANKART INC. PATENT APPLD FOR’. Each bookend measures about 5.75” tall, 4.5” wide and 3.75” deep, and together they weigh 4 lbs 8 oz, ideal for smaller-sized books. This listing is for the pair of bookends only.
These bookends are in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age, use and handling. There are no apparent breaks, cracks, dents or repairs to the pieces. There is finish loss and some oxidation – particularly on the bases – and some light spotting overall. There is felt on the bottoms.
