This copper pot is from a chateau near Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. It's beautiful seams were hand hammered at the hands of a skilled craftsman in the mid 19th century. It was used for many years in the main kitchen for various recipes. Jellies, jams, chocolate, candy, stocks, and sauces which are the heart of French cuisine. The pot is thick, solid, and sturdy at 7.5 lbs. It features a smooth rolled edge lip. The bottom is slightly rounded to encourage the distribution of heat. The forged iron handle is durable. Can be used as an accent piece or cauldron. With its lovely patina, it would make a wonderful wine bucket at parties.
