The warm palette colours reflect the natural surroundings of the South of France where Vincent spent many of his most productive years. The whole painting is imbued with the warmth and light so crucial to the Impressionist movement and by an almost uncanny  process of osmosis  van Gogh has been brought into the 21st century.
