Antique family portrait of a first rank civil official during the Quing dynasty layered paint screen printed on silk. Was framed in a faux bamboo and black lacquer frame sometime in the mid century. The figure is dressed in formal court robes with layers of black, cobalt ad vermilion and accented with gold. The motifs of waves, clouds and floral scrolls, symbolize longevity, prosperity and steadfastness. Restoration is recommended but is also very beautiful as is. The frame is missing glass and there are some flaws to the silk in a few small areas and one what looks like a drop of lacquer.
Measurements of the portrait without the frame is: 40" high and 27" wide.
