A fine and elegant antique Georgian Regency Rococo Sterling silver teapot, from the reign of King George III, by John Wakefield, London 1819.
The teapot is lavishly and profusely decorated with floral repoussé work, the hinged lid with a floral finial, the body of the teapot with scrolling floral designs and a zoomorphic spout with a creature's head for the mouth of the teapot. The teapot is raised on four cabriole legs terminating to scrolled claw feet with maidenhead masks above, the teapot with the original scrolled wooden handle, London hallmarks stamped to the base and the date letter for 1819 with the maker's mark for John Wakefield.
Condition is excellent, a beautiful and elegant Georgian sterling silver teapot.
