It is a 1949 French advertisement print for Schiaparelli's perfume line called "Schocking". The fragrance is noted as a "poignant perfume... warm, tempestuous and dramatically feminine. Schiaparelli, one of the most famous fashion designers, along with Coco Chanel, was prominent between the two World Wars. She teamed with Marcel Vertes who created the whimsical, modern illustrated ads complementing Schiaparelli’s avant-garde style and irreverent attitude. Vertes collaborated with Schiaparelli and illustrated publicity ads for her perfume capturing her spirit and style. The print shows a jester holding the signature, recognizable Schiaparelli bottle. This image had limited circulation as it appeared in 1 magazine of the time. This image is original to 1949. It is NOT a recent reproduction image. It is in clean condition with strong color.
